As a veteran of old school analogue, exploding Marshall stacks and upside down Stratocasters, the one word that proudly leaps into my mind to describe this collection of live tracks, recorded between 1999 and 2002, is grubby. The sound is grubby, the pubs are grubby, even the songs themselves retain a certain grubby edge, something that would definitely wash off under water with soap. |
|
But beneath that thin grubby veneer lurks a clarity, a purity that cannot be sullied. The raw bleeding passion etched into every syllable and chord splatters out across your lounge room floor. The soaring primal urgency grabs your unprotected groin, smearing somebody else’s lipstick casually onto your freshly laundered trousers. |
This is raw, live rock and roll recorded in several pubs around Sydney with one digital camera. It hasn’t been professionally mastered or anything else to detract from your aural discomfort. Probably won’t be of much benefit to any house plants that you may have near the telly. |

BUT… this is fourteen live tracks and three almost properly made videos, two of which actually got played on MTV, that kick arse.
